In 2019 Kirk was living a healthy lifestyle, active and eating a balanced diet. What was troubling was that after every meal bloating would occur, energy levels were low, and an ongoing low mood was present. The search began for a non-medical, natural solution to this and recalling a few years previous, when a friend gave Kirk some dairy kefir and the immediate relief he felt from this drink, he set out on a mission to make his own.
After a few weeks of dairy and then he discovered non-dairy water kefir that was plant-based. He purchased a small batch of water kefir grains and began making water kefir in his kitchen and fermenting them in his warm laundry room basin.
The healing benefits were immediate, no more bloating or fatigue after meals, and his mood improved. He told one female friend how it made him feel, she tried it and immediately began to buy it. Word slowly spread as more and more people started drinking it in our community, this would lead to what is now Kirk’s Kefir.
